Creative by Design, Part 1: Honoring Your Inspiration Rhythms with Human Design & Tarot
Your Creativity Is A Pulse, Not a Product.
It’s a living, breathing rhythm that moves through you in waves, bursts, and cycles.
And it certainly isn’t something to turn on and off when you need it. If that worked, you wouldn’t be here wondering if there may be more sustainable ways for you to create, to be seen, and to honor the way your inspiration naturally flows.
You may have seasons of deep creation, where ideas flow faster than you can track them, zipping through your brain like a swarm of fireflies.
And then, there are seasons of painful quiet. Where you feel worn out, empty, convinced you’ll never have another good idea again.
Guess what? Both are part of the process. Both are sacred.
What’s missing in our modern culture is the understanding that creativity is not linear, it’s not indefinite, and it’s certainly not meant to be “on demand” like a Netflix show.
Instead, we must remember — for every measure of output, there must be a time for rest, regeneration, and integration. Yet, when we add in the layers of capitalism, neurotypical standards, ableism, and general hustle culture, it’s no wonder we’ve forgotten how to honor our own rhythms.
We’re told to “stay consistent,” to push through, to post something—hell, anything—just to prove we’re still here (read: “valuable”).
If you’ve been looking for another way to understand your creative cycles — one that honors your body, your rhythms, and your joy, I want to introduce you to Human Design.
Human Design is a synthesis of astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the chakra system. It offers a unique energetic map of how your life force moves through you, how you create, connect, rest, and decide your life path.
Through the lens of creativity, your Human Design Chart (called a BodyGraph) can help you understand three key things:
Your Type: how your energy moves and how you might create the best
Your Authority: how you know when it’s time to create, share, or rest, and what might be ideal to act on
Your Profile: how your creative gifts may be most authentically expressed
For each component of your chart, I’ll offer Tarot Frequencies, Tarot Companion, and Tarot Archetypes. These are specific tarot cards I’ve intuitively and intentionally chosen to help you understand and anchor even deeper into your energetic blueprint.
Before we start: Get your Human Design Chart (BodyGraph) here or here. You’ll need the exact time you were born for the most accurate chart.
🌞 Type: The Mechanics of Your Creative Energy
Your Human Design Type shows how creative energy moves through you, including—if this is part of your practice—how you’re invited to co-collaborate with Source, Spirit, or your own intuition.
Some types are meant to respond to what’s already alive in their world. Some are built to initiate. Others thrive when they’re recognized or given time to reflect.
Knowing your Type helps you work with your energy instead of constantly fighting against it.
Below, I’ve offered Tarot Frequencies for each type to help you feel into the authentic expression of this type of energy and lean into the strengths of each type.
Generators + Manifesting Generators: Sacred Responders 🌸
Elemental Inspiration: Earth (with Fire’s spark for MGs)
Tarot Frequencies: The Empress, The Sun, Eight of Pentacles, Ace of Wands
You’re not here to “chase” the next big idea. You’re here to tune in and notice how you respond to the world.
When something lights you up (a project, an image, a feeling) that’s your cue to move and create. Trust the sacred “uh-huh” in your body; that hum is your creative engine coming alive.
If the buzz fades, rest. Or play. Or step away from production mode and let simple joys refill you.
In a creative rut? Let life give you something to respond to. Step out of your usual space and see what catches your attention. The spark can return when you engage with the world again.
Projectors: Vision Weavers 🕸️
Elemental Inspiration: Air
Tarot Frequencies: The High Priestess, The Star, King of Swords, Queen of Swords
Your power lies in precision, not production.
Your creative genius lives in what you notice. You see patterns, stories, and meaning before anyone else does.
Because your insight comes naturally, you don’t need to stay “on” all the time. Your creativity thrives when you trust your rhythm. Observe, rest, then share when it’s welcomed.
In a creative rut? Focus on what fascinates you. Ask for consent to share with others: “Would you like my thoughts on this?” When your insight is invited, your creative flow flows more easily.
Manifestors: Creative Catalysts 🔥
Elemental Inspiration: Fire
Tarot Frequencies: The Page of Wands, King of Wands, The Emperor, The Magician
You’re the one who strikes the match, not the one who keeps it burning.
You’re here to start things. Creative urges move through you like wildfire…fast, powerful, and impossible to ignore.
When that spark hits, follow it. Don’t overthink or overplan. Trust the impulse and act before it cools. Then rest and retreat. That downtime is necessary to renew your energy for the next burst.
In a creative rut? Inform others about what you’re doing and what you need – be that support, space, or solitude. Letting others know how to clear the path for you will allow you to move forward uninhibited.
Reflectors: Lunar Mirrors 🪞
Elemental Inspiration: Water
Tarot Frequencies: The Moon, Temperance, Four of Cups, Queen of Cups
Your creative rhythm follows the beloved Moon. You’re like a still lake, both full and empty, reflecting what surrounds you, holding everything within you.
You absorb and translate the collective atmosphere into art, language, and emotion. Give yourself time to feel things fully before deciding what to make.
In a creative rut? Let time and environment bring you back into balance. Your pace may not match the others, but when you honor it, your work reflects the heartbeat of the world around you.
Human Design and Tarot offer creative support as you move through your creative path as a business owner, witchy soul, or therapist/healer.
Remember: you are inherently creative. Human Design and Tarot are simply another way to explore, feel into, and learn about your experience.
Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and let your creative rhythm unfold slowly, surely, day by day.
Align your message with your magic.
