Tarot in Therapy & Owning Your Spiritual Side: A Conversation with Cecily Sailer

In this episode, I go full-witch with fellow writer and tarot reader, Cecily Sailer, of Your Creative and Magical Life Podcast.

I share all about my experience of coming to Tarot — 20+ years ago in a dusty used bookstore, which has now blossomed into a professional practice.

Despite this long history with tarot, it was only recently that I brought my tarot practice more into the limelight — and you’ll hear what held me back and what finally brought me forward.

We’ll also dive into all the nudges I received to integrate this part of myself, while still respecting my professional and personal boundaries.

Key points in this episode:

  • My path to allowing my witchy side to be seen — the barriers and the blessings

  • What it could look like to bring Tarot into the therapy room — whether you're the patient or the therapist

  • Steps you can take to "own" your Tarot or spiritual practice more fully or publicly (in our own unique ways);

  • The powerful connections between addiction, recovery, and Tarot

  • We end with a couple of card pulls — The Lovers and 10 of Wands, which seem to depict two ends on a spectrum of self-acceptance and care.

At the end of the episode, we offer you a two-card Tarot spread to try on your own:

CARD 1: What is a value that can guide you on your spiritual journey?

CARD 2: How can you release the burdens you're carrying around this?
